Wild edibles include greens, fruits, nuts, roots, tubers, fungi, seaweeds, flowers, and more. They typically have higher nutritional density than cultivated equivalents (more vitamins, minerals, polyphenols, beneficial compounds), carry genetic diversity that cultivated varieties have lost, and are tightly woven into cultural foodways worldwide.
