Origin

[[vandana-shiva|Vandana Shiva]] founded Navdanya in 1987 after attending an industry conference where global seed-and-pesticide consolidation was openly discussed. The realization that a few corporations were preparing to control the world’s seed supply — including the Indian seed traditions that had fed the subcontinent for millennia — drove Shiva to organize an alternative.
