Ultra-Processed Foods

Why the category matters

What this isn’t

The vault’s stance on ultra-processed food is not a moral panic or a call-out. It is an omission: ultra-processed food does not get listed in [[directory|the directory]], does not get celebrated as kin, does not become part of the fabric the vault is building. People who eat it are not condemned; the food itself is simply not what the vault is for.

A meaningful share of the global population eats predominantly ultra-processed food.
