Bioregion
Endless Mountains
Also known as: Northern Tier, Twin Tiers, Allegheny Plateau North
The northern Pennsylvania uplands — a wave of forested ridges and valleys on the Allegheny Plateau between the New York border to the north and the West Branch Susquehanna to the south. Sparsely populated, deeply agricultural, with a strong tradition of small dairy and a recent surge in regenerative and native-plant operations. Watershed drains south to the Susquehanna and north to the Chemung / Susquehanna in the Twin Tiers along the NY border.
Why this entry
This bioregion enters the directory as the anchor for Growin’ Native (Mansfield), Milkweed Monarchy (Williamsport), and Bluet Native Plant Nursery (Shickshinny) — three native operations across the bioregion’s northern, southern, and eastern edges. Stub — meant to grow into a full bioregion write-up as more Endless Mountains-area listings join the directory.
What’s distinctive
Replace this section as the bioregion’s directory presence thickens. Aim to cover: the geological/ecological signature, the cultural-memory layer (pre-colonial, settler, contemporary), the keystone institutions and land trusts already at work, and the through-line that ties listed businesses to the place itself.
Stub status
This page is intentionally minimal. As Endless Mountains listings accrue in the directory, expand into the same template the poconos entry follows: ecological detail, Indigenous history, institutional ecosystem, distinctive species and habitats, and the cultural-economic dynamic the directory‘s operators are responding to.
