The agricultural lowland on either side of Lake Champlain — a 120-mile glacial-lake basin between the Adirondacks and the Green Mountains. Vermont's densest small-farm cluster (Hinesburg, Charlotte, Shelburne, Middlebury) sits on the Vermont side; orchard country, dairy country, and the spine of the state's CSA economy.
