The dominant 21st-century model of industrial meat, dairy, and egg production: thousands or hundreds of thousands of animals confined indoors at high density, fed grain (often subsidized commodity corn and soybeans), maintained on sub-therapeutic antibiotics, slaughtered on a fixed schedule.
